The professor's irony uses absurdity to make an obscure point. Of course, it will be taken seriously, thereby fostering generalizations about professors and liberals, etc.

The english translations are entirely adequate.

I think sometimes people embellish because a dry read back doesn't convey the excitement they felt at the time of the event. Something exciting enough that they wanted to share the story. They were excited that they caught the fish, but at excitement doesn't come through, so they embellish the fish size in an attempt to make the listener be as excited as they were.

If God does not exist, why are you so angry at Him?

Yeah. Extremist terrorism is a threat. But oddly, the nations he's targeting are just the ones that aren't paying him a lot of money.

One thing that I've found interesting here is that people who participate in the fun posts are much more likely to be successful in engaging others on substantive political topics. And, more to the point, I find my responses to others have been enhanced by those interactions and even more to the "selfie" threads we run from time to time.

I don't see why I should be expected to defend Scientologists. Elron made that religion up out of thin air and the current leader, David Miscavage, is a psychopath. If anything I am on the side of Anonymous, Scientology is a menace and needs to be DESTROYED!

? the ideology of the Church ought to play second fiddle to the commandment to love...? and I wholeheartedly agree with il papa! When have I ever even remomtely suggested that Love doesn?t trump all? Of course the most important thing is Love. While the Bible has many genres as we discussed, if the book had to be categorized as just one book, it would be classified as a Love story. The greatest love story of all time, which makes it very unfortunate that it?s not ?your story?.

This in no way shows that we don't know what a God is as claimed by you.

David Ulansey (the author from the link you included) even indicates the notion of Mithra being born from a rock (or at least that this was the tradition. He wrote on that same page that you cited: "But caves are precisely hollows within the rocky earth, which suggests that the rock from which Mithras is born is meant to represent the Mithraic cave as seen from the outside."

No, she can't avoid that social group forever. Hopefully, with time, she'll be able to deal with it better.
